The Achievements of Developing School Features

  • Develop "5 + 2 + 2 + 1" professional features

In the "5+2+2+1" innovation industry, Biotechnology and Medicine, Asia Silicon Valley, Smart Machinery, Green Energy, Digital Innovation, and Cultural Technology six areas have selected as the school’s development focus. In these fields, a number of patented technologies have been successfully developed, and a total of 32 pieces of technology transfer worth NTD 8.4 million were obtained in 2020. Examples are as follows:

(1) Small molecule new drug development

“Chinese Herbal Medicine Technology R&D Center” has successfully developed new curcumin derivatives for Alzheimer’s disease, and has also founded a spin-off company” Merry Life Biomedical Company Ltd.” The company raised NTD 250 million. In 2021, it will apply for the US new drug development certification.

(2) AIOT technology and application

Successfully developed the "Falling Torso Image Recognition Technology", which won the Medical Quality Mark of the Industrial Application Group of the "2020 National Medical Quality Award". Successfully developed a "drug identification system" , which is expected to be introduced into the pharmacy department of hospital to improve the efficiency of pharmacy dispatching personnel's adjustment and verification.

(3) Develop smart cutting and visual calibration machine

In cooperation with shoe’s machine factory - Yinghui Machinery, which developed commercial intelligent cutting and visual calibration tool machines. In addition, developed a vector object expansion and typesetting patented technology, which won the gold medal of the 2020 Taiwan Innovation Technology Expo Invention Competition. This technology has been applied to shoe factories in overseas.

  • Promote internationalization

In order to expand international perspectives of stustdents, STUST actively promotes students’ internships in overseas. In the 108 academic year, the number of students going to overseas for internship reached 116.

  • Promote R&D and academia-industry collaboration initiatives

To develop school featured research programs, STUST stimulated faculty to organize interdisciplinary R&D teams, and in so doing the sharing of technologies and resources. To date, 18 R&D centers have been established. Furthermore, STUST organized and arranged resources from industry partners for utilization by faculty and students to establish the “Industry-academia Collaborative Joint R&D centers” on campus. To date, 5 centers have been established.



STUST has won the ninth consecutive "Industry-University Cooperation Excellent Unit" by the Chinese Society of Engineers



The student's creation-"Hando" assistive device, won the 2020 IDEA Gold Award in the United States, and also won the 16th outstanding technical and vocational education award.
