Students’ Practical Competition Achievement

1. Winner of the Red Dot Design Award 2019, Germany.


2. The “School of the Year Award” of the “Vision Get Wild Competition 2019” for five consecutive years.


3. The Diamond Award of Application Group in the “19th Golden Silicon Awards”. For the first time in nearly 20 years, STUST students outranked the top university team to win the Diamond Award.


4. In 2019, STUST received the first prize (2 million NT dollars) of the “2nd Dragon Smile Smart Network Entrepreneurship Competition”.

Faculty Teaching Performance

1. Doctor Po-Ming Lee (Department of electronic Engineering) and Yi-Chun Du (Department of Electrical Engineering Department) were awarded the 2019 IEET Outstanding Teaching Prize.



2.  Yu-Yu Chang of the Department of International Business Management won the “Ministry of Science and Technology Einstein Program Award 2019”.


Professional Technology R&D

1.  “Chinese Herbal Medicine Technology R&D Center” has successfully developed new curcumin derivatives for Alzheimer’s disease, and has also founded a spin-off company” Merry Life Biomedical Company Ltd.”  Merry Life Biomedical Company was awarded the “startups pioneer” award from the Ministry of Science and Technology, and was presented by Taiwan’s President, Tsai Ing-Wen in 2019.  STUST is the only private university from all 14 honorees in attendance.

2. STUST and Chi Mei Medical Center founded the “Advanced Intelligent Biomedical Technology Center” and successfully developed a new Intelligent Auxiliary Hearing System. In 2019, the research results were awarded the 1st place in the “2nd Dragon Smile Smart Network Entrepreneurship Competition”, as well as the Diamond Award of Application Group in the “19th Golden Silicon Awards”, and also the Gold Medal Award of “2019 Taiwan Innotech Expo”.


3. Established a “Joint STUST R&D center with Tainan Spinning Co., Ltd”. TSC invested 300,000 USD of R&D funding in 3 years. STUST contributed 700,000 USD of equipment investment to the R&D of innovative Spinning Production Technologies.


4. “Advancement Center of MCU Design” assists 3 cooperative companies to develop MCUs and generates sales of more than 1 million units per month, culminating in annual revenue of more than 666,666 USD for megawin company. This year, the center developed a portable optical gas sensor that can quickly detect harmful gases such as PM2.5 and nitrogen dioxide concentration within 3 seconds. This device can also effectively monitor and prevent air pollution and was recognized and highly valued by MOST (the Ministry of Science and Technology). We are very proud to share that the National Museum of Natural Science exhibited the R&D results “Live Good Air: Livelihood Public Internet of Things Special Exhibition”.


Promotion of Higher Education Accessibility

1.     Our vulnerable student financial aid has raised 170,000 USD. It’s the highest amount contributed amongst all public and private universities in Taiwan.



2.    
In 2019, STUST subsidized a vulnerable student (Hung,Yu-Jsiahg) to attend the WorldSkills International Competition (“Pâtisserie and Confectionery”) in Kazan, Russia. She won the bronze medal in the western-style pastry category.


Implementation of the University Social Responsibility (USR) Initiatives

1. A public crowdfunding platform enabled STUST to successfully raise NT.565,041 dollars for the Taiwan Phoo Tse Lantern Festival.




2. In 2019, the Ministry of Finance awarded the SME Incubator located at the Southern Taiwan Science Park, (which is operated by STUST) “The 17th Golden Thumb Award for PPIP (Private Participation in Infrastructure Projects)”.
